About

My name is Sara Ross, I am a licensed clinical social worker and I I graduated from Colorado State University in 2008. I was unaware when I moved to Colorado in 2004 that a Masters in Social Work degree affords one flexibility to work in a variety of capacities but this has fit my personality well. I have chosen to work as a psychotherapist primarily and I was fortunate to work for the community mental health center in Steamboat Springs during and after my graduate education for a total of 10 years. This small town affords ample exposure to a wide variety of populations and supervision from some of the best therapists to grow as a practitioner. At heart, I truly consider myself a generalist, systems practitioner who loves to work with all kinds of people.

Because I am a generalist, I am passionate about expanding my clinical knowledge. I love learning especially from my clients. I have advanced training in trauma, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, brief therapy, attachment theory, crisis, grief and loss work, oncology, mindfulness and meditation, Internal Family Systems and Gottman’s philosophy of couples therapy. I am also trained in EMDR. This affords me a broad range of skills to pull from.

Currently I have a private practice and work with adults and teenagers with a broad range of issues including depression & anxiety, attachment issues, relationship issues, ADHD and adjustment to new life experiences. I am honored and thankful to work at our local hospital as the therapist for the cancer center with patients, caregivers and families.

Beyond my education and training, I think my clients would describe me as warm, approachable and non-judgmental. Above all, I try to be genuine with my clients. Although I have training and experience, I believe my clients are the experts of themselves. I believe that my clients know the answer inside of themselves and may need a little help getting there. I would be honored to get to know you more and see if we are a good fit to work together.
