My name is Ruthann London. I have been an LMFT, (licensed, Marriage and Family therapist for 34 years). I have an MA in Counseling education. I worked for the military as a civilian for a decade of my career.I helped service members with domestic violence issues. I have helped clients with relationship issues, individual problems or concerns, family conflict, lack of confidence and low self esteem . Clients came to me struggling with mild to serious depression, anxiety, struggles with panic attacks and mental health disorders. Additionally for the last 5 years I was in an inpatient drug treatment center. I helped clients with substance abuse issues.
My treatment approach is starting where the client is. I want to hear what the client considers the issue to be, and help the client look at the most important issue to decrease having the feeling of being overwhelmed. I'm a very active and interactive listener. Above and beyond nodding my head, I will provide feedback and engage the client in a two way dialogue. I am positive, warm and friendly. I do not judge. I ask questions to ensure I understand.
I can help by paraphrasing what I heard the client say, and I do this to verify what I think I heard is what I did hear. I provide objective feedback and help the client discover amazing things about themselves, by giving them tools to build self awareness, self esteem and self confidence. I provide emotional guidance and support for each client so they can begin to feel better and see a path for acceptance and change.
