About

Hi there, I'm Richard! Welcome! My name is Richard Burton. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specializations in narrative, drama therapy, creative arts therapy. I'm here to help you repair, develop or re-invent your preferred life story to align with your passions and aspirations. I also often help people manage or find ways to tolerate challenges to their goals and daily health and wellness. If you want to work on your character arc and relationships toward a life storyline more of your own choosing... as compared to living out any other storylines... Perhaps I can help. :>) My approach Through customized sessions tailored to your specific goals, I use creative action-oriented methods to help you identify your personal strengths, talents, and interests. You don't need to be a pro artist, musician, dancer, writer, photographer, movie-maker to benefit from the secrets of creativity applied in daily life. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) integrated with creative arts. I believe in the healing power of daily "flow" experiences - those moments when you are fully engaged and absorbed in an activity that brings you joy and fulfillment. To help you counter rumination, anxiety, and depression, I offer interesting and enjoyable activities to do outside of therapy sessions that are designed to bring on flow experiences and bring more joy to your daily life. Let's work together to map out the life you want and expedite your healing journey. My focus I like working with people interested in interactive therapeutic dialogues and engaging practices you can do outside of therapy for making forward progress toward goals and daily life wellness. I can provide a focused series of custom sessions to help you identify, address and manage anxiety, rumination, and depression symptoms both in and outside of therapy sessions.
