I have 20 years experience in counseling adults, focusing on relationship concerns. I am a Certified Sex Therapist in private practice, and teach Human Sexuality at the Graduate Level. I earned my PhD at the University of Northern Colorado in Counselor Education and Supervision, with my research focus on Sexuality Counseling, Couple Counseling, Supervision and Multicultural issues in Counseling and teaching. My clinical work at my private practice focuses on couples, and my training and publication background includes knowledge and sensitivity in working with same sex couples as well.
I am Licensed Professional Counselor, and have a private practice focusing on sex therapy, couples, relationship and intimacy concerns. I believe in a growth mindset in adult development both relationally, sexually and within ourselves. Change and growth is underestimated in adulthood, and the strength that lies within us to navigate our lives and cope with what we cannot change can be drawn out in the counseling process. I work with a combination of Emotion Focused, Cognitive Behavioral and Gottman Approaches with both individuals and couples.
I absolutely love working with both individuals and couples, and find the counseling journey is a very important relationship in a person's life, where I see my job to unconditionally accept, not judge and be there for my clients in a therapeutic manner. I believe in ethical practice, offering practical and evidence-based support.
I serve as a member of the Association for the Counseling Sexology and Sexual Wellness and am a Reviewer for the Journal of Counseling Sexology and Sexual Wellness, Research Practice and Education, which I believe helps me stay on the cutting edge of current research with sex and intimacy in the counseling field. I teach Human Sexuality to Masters' students online and own a private practice in Lone Tree, Colorado, working with couples and intimacy concerns as a Sex Therapist.
