About
Rachel recently moved to Michigan from California, where she directed a medical practice for 33 years, priding herself on long-lasting personal relationships with patients. Outside of her practice, she volunteered as a mentor and life coach to individuals needing guidance, and she was honored by a congregation of 400 people for excellence in this endeavor. Rachel completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University and has interned and been employed at Jewish Family Services of Metropolitan Detroit. Rachel’s passion is working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, the effects of trauma, and relationship issues. Rachel’s style is both collaborative and empowering. Rachel believes that the intent of therapy is to partner with her clients, enabling them -in a non-judgmental way- to clarify and actualize their dreams and goals, giving voice to their unique personal character and needs. Rachel’s former career as a physician helps her strategize with clients, utilizing a mind-body approach to address and cope with difficult issues. Rachel is trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and mindfulness/meditation… Why did you become a therapist? I have always loved working with people and even while I was a medical professional I coached and mentored people that needed help. I am fascinated by the human mind, capabilities, and resilience and feel privileged to help my clients feel better and better enjoy their life. What do your clients say about you as a therapist? Able to understand and helpful in helping them clarify their concerns/challenges. Good listener. Flexibility and willingness to individualize treatment and utilize different modalities as needed. What’s something new you’re learning or working on with clients in therapy? IFS, EMDR, ACT- deepening my training as well as reviewing past material, and leaning on past experiences.
