About
Preston Jones M. Ed. LPC, CPCS has accumulated 12 years of experience in the field of clinical counseling and 15 years in the field of education. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2003 from Lincoln University, Preston gained experience working with at-risk youth in Detention Centers and Residential Facilities including Vision Quest, Pennsylvania Clinical Schools, and Devereux Georgia. During this time, Preston provided interchangeable research-based interventions for youth and students experiencing a wide range of diagnoses and disabilities for the purpose of mental and behavioral rehabilitation. Coincidentally, the experience Preston received while working in Detention Centers and Residential Facilities lied a derivative of the counseling world. This encouraged him to pursue two Master's degrees. He received a Master's in School Counseling in 2009 from Wilmington University and a Master's in Special Education in 2013 from the University of West Georgia. Since earning his degree in School Counseling and Special Education, Preston worked as a Community Counselor (Supervised Therapist) and also concurrently as a Special Education Teacher. Preston gained expertise in clinical modalities, assessments, and directed treatment. He expounded on Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered approaches, and Brief Therapy to treat multiple diagnoses such as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Stress Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Suicidal Ideations. In 2015, Preston became a School Counselor where he continued his collaboration with Parents, Teachers, Students, Probation Officers, Social Workers, Psychologists, and other team members to provide appropriate school-to-home interventions. He became licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2018.
