Hi! My name is Petra and I look forward to working with you!

I understand the strength and courage it takes to choose counseling and I feel honored to be let into your life. I take this privilege seriously and take time to get to know you and nurture a strong, therapeutic relationship. I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling meaning I use different strategies based on your needs and what works best for you because counseling is a collaborative process. Some of the theories and techniques I like to use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Therapy. I believe people are strong and resilient and work on helping you identify your strengths which will guide you on your path to wellness.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I have a BA in Psychology from Radford University and a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling also from Radford University. I have worked in the mental health field for 5 years, first as a developmental disabilities case manager, then a school-based clinician and I currently work at a local university providing counseling services to students at the Student Counseling Center.

I love my family (including my 2 dogs), my friends, spending time outdoors, cooking and baking (and eating), painting, and watching shows.
