About
Hi, I’m Natasha, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) with over 10 years of experience helping people in various settings. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University with a focus on creative arts therapies and outdoor recreation. I became very interested in the power of the creative process to transform lives and improve wellness that I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Art Therapy, as well as obtaining my license as a professional counselor. "When Words are Not enough", art therapy is a treatment based on strengths and interests as well as concerns. Conducted through art-making and verbal expressions, art is seen as a language and viewed as self-talk, bringing insight and changes to beliefs and behaviors, while empowering clients beyond treatment sessions.
In my work, I have seen the power of art to communicate feelings that words alone could never convey. It seems to work for all kinds of people. Sharing your inner experience in this way can clear the path to healing, and gently lead to the change that you desire. Being trained as a counselor and an art therapist, I use this dual approach to figure out if verbal counseling alone, art therapy or blend of both is appropriate. No prior artistic experience is necessary. No one is ever expected or forced to do art during counseling sessions, but the invitation is always there. Regardless of age, art interventions can help individuals increase insight, express and/or contain difficult feelings, and gain a sense of control over parts of one's life that have felt unmanageable.
I can provide art directives and guidance to increase insight into emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, and work through traumatic experiences and help you deal with and find meaning out of chronic illness or other life challenges. I practice compassion by being an emphatic and non-judgmental listener. I believe all people have an innate capacity for growth and positive change. I am softly direct, interactive, honest and kind. I'm excited to work with you and hope to facilitate lasting life changes, happier relationships, and instill more true joy in your life!
