About

My name is Monika Dorsey Hayes and I am a licensed therapist in Georgia. I received my professional licensed counseling degree from South University in Savannah, Georgia in 2013. My career in the mental health field began as an administrative assistant in the counseling department at Savannah State University, where I also performed the duties of HIV tester and counselor, domestic violence and suicide prevention task force advisor for four years; individual and group counseling with children 6-18 years old and adult substance abuse and prevention programs. My work in substance abuse includes gender specific groups, adolescent groups, assessments, treatment plans, and individual services. I have found that the Person Centered Approach and Cognitive Behavior Therapy have been really effective. I do not believe that every person I meet fits into a box, and that every modality will work with every situation. I employ using all therapeutic methods depending on the needs of the needs of the person I am working with. Getting to know the client from the onset of our communication allows me to determine the best approach to assist them with achieving their therapeutic goals. I have a passion to help those who feel they cannot help themselves. I believe that empowering others begins from within and is the work I do as a therapist.
