Hi there! I am Monica, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Educator in Georgia. I have been a LPC for 14+ years and an Educator for over 20 years. I am a 3rd generation graduate of Alabama A&M University, where I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education in 1999. I received both my master’s and specialist degrees in Counseling in 2002 from Florida State University. Over time, I have found that my work with people who are adjusting to life after big life changes or trauma to be both effective and rewarding, as I engage in ongoing continuing education in trauma informed mental health care.

My therapeutic approach combines Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. In addition, I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist. EMDR is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. EMDR has recently been explored in in a global and pop culture context.
