About
I have specialized in working with people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), adjustment challenges and life transitions, parenting transitions and struggles, and interpersonal conflict. The majority of my experience comes from counseling individuals diagnosed with major depression and anxiety disorders to include PTSD, Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, (Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder) as well as those who struggle with self-harm and suicidal ideations. I have counseled in both group and individual settings. I have also worked cross-culturally with immigrant and refugee populations, and am bilingual (English and Spanish). As your clinician, I am committed to personalizing the counseling experience based on your needs. The counseling process should be collaborative, so please communicate with me regularly about what you feel is helping you most or least in our sessions. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment of mutual trust. I consider myself an interactive, solution-focused, and authentic therapist. I use an integrative approach to therapy and primarily rely on cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused strategies and techniques. In working with trauma, I operate under a trauma informed perspective. In addition to conventional theories and techniques, I also draw upon alternative modalities to accommodate the individual needs of the client that I am working with. In such, I occasionally integrate expressive art therapy, play therapy, narrative therapy, and/or relaxation/meditation techniques to our sessions. I believe that I am not the expert in your life, rather that expert is you. Through a strong therapeutic alliance, we work together towards solving issues/challenges and problems. I firmly believe that people can heal through the power of the therapeutic partnership between the client and the therapist, while implementing new skills that will improve their situations.
