My name is McKay Davis, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Missouri and Georgia as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. My specialties include addressing mood disorders, anxiety, stress, trauma, self-injurious behaviors, and substance abuse.
As a counselor, I strive to develop a warm, open, and trusting relationship with my clients. Talking to a complete stranger can be terrifying, and I respect that and strive never to push my clients to discuss things they are not ready to. This is your counseling; you get to decide what you want to work on, and I will do everything I can to support you in that.
Every person has unique needs and preferences, so I tailor my approaches specifically for each client. My overall approach to counseling is Person-Centered, meaning I strive to meet people where they are at and accept them unconditionally while helping them to identify and work towards their goals. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as it is highly effective for mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and so much more.
A zoo of pets, a toddler, and a spouse keep me busy, but in addition to counseling, I teach counseling courses and supervise new counselors. For fun, I often read, craft, or just get outdoors for some fresh air and sunshine.
