Hello. My name is Mark Carey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Kansas City, Missouri. I have a masters degree in coupling psychology and am currently working on my doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I have over 5 yrs of experience in private practice. I have been utilizing online services for the past 3 years. Prior to private practice, I worked in a psychiatric hospital performing individual, family and group therapy. I have worked with clients who expressed concerns about a number of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues to name a few. I approach therapy from a relational perspective, meaning that I tend to explore the relationship the client has with themselves and others. This allows me to incorporate a number of interventions and skills into the therapy process. I have training in a majority of the empirically supported theoretical approaches including: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, existentialism, rational emotive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic theory.

I very much enjoy working collaboratively with clients in order to help them reach their goals. I enjoy exploring client's individual differences and unique experiences to develop personalized treatment plans. My goals are to help people by providing a warm, non-judgmental, and safe place to make the changes desired to feel better.
