Mark is a skilled therapist with over twenty years of experience counseling diverse people in various settings. From treating chronic mentally ill adults and conduct-disordered youth, to counseling broken families and school-anxious teens, Mark has learned extensive treatments in the field. He values the strength and courage clients show in their most vulnerable times. Through it all, he has learned many therapy principles; the most important being that change can be difficult. Mark approaches therapy understanding that change, with acceptance and perseverance, can build character, hope, and strength. Mark sees his role as an empathic guide who collaborates with and encourages his clients to identify their values, strengths, and problematic thoughts and behaviors. He values an honest and safe therapeutic relationship that effectively fosters healthy growth and solution-focused change. Mark enjoys working with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. Mark utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods in his practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Expressive Therapies, and Christian Counseling; each tailored to a client’s specific needs and goals. He has considerable experience working with individuals that have mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. Mark has special interests in anger management, stress management, school anxiety and refusal, self-injury, couples/marital conflict, men’s issues, assertiveness, self-esteem, academic pressures, sports performance, and faith issues. He also enjoys helping couples and families cope with all types of stressors that affect balancing time, quality togetherness, and communication. Mark is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. He received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University of Chicago. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
