About

Welcome to Find A Therapist! It takes courage to seek counseling for a more fulfilling and happier life. The fact that you are here exploring options for self-improvement, shows you have taken a huge step towards your goals.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina. I have extensive experience with Acute Stress Disorder as well as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and am well trained on the impact of trauma, including the evidence-based TF-CBT modality, CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy). Additionally, I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, psychosis, parenting, and other mental health issues. My experience includes providing long-term therapy, short-term therapy, and crisis intervention. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, while exploring how they view themselves and others. I enjoy helping people overcome life challenges and grow by meeting their personal goals. I am a compassionate listener who meets you where you are.

My professional experience started in 2002, as I have worked with individuals and families, in the roles of a mental health professional, clinician, and supervisor. I have worked with children and Families individually and in groups, in a variety of settings, including an outpatient child therapy clinic, a foster care agency, residential treatment, day treatment settings, and Veteran's Hospital. I have experience working across age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion and socioeconomic background. I believe we can all grow through challenging experiences by increasing our self-awareness and support. We all want to be able to share our personal truths while being accepted and understood. I believe it's very important to be open-minded and non-judgmental when someone shares their personal story or experiences with me.

My approach in counseling is based on what works best for you, using a combination of modalities, including but not limited to client-centered, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral while incorporating a focus on strengths-based and systems-dynamics. I believe that in order to be successful in counseling, clients need to feel safe in sharing their life struggles with a person that they have a healthy therapeutic connection with. I will create and adjust your treatment plan based off of our conversations, to meet their unique and specific needs. My goal is to guide, empower, and encourage you while providing insight, techniques, and tools (to work on and practice in between sessions) that you can use in order to meet your goals.

You are welcome to message me anytime through this platform. Unlike traditional outpatient counseling, you will be able to have access to a counselor to work through day to day emotions and problem solving. This can be extremely beneficial. I usually check messages a few times each day, Monday through Saturday. I like to meet with clients weekly for sessions along with messaging between these sessions. I have a pretty flexible schedule, so if you are interested in a time that is not listed on my calendar, send me a message.

When you are ready to take the first steps towards change by having me on your team, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
