About
Hello! My name is Lorie Mullan and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker providing mental health services in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. In 2015, I received my Master of Social Work degree from West Virginia University and have spent my subsequent years treating the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and their families as well as adults seeking individual services.
For children and adolescents, my experience includes both residential, emergency shelter and outpatient child and adolescent behavioral health services, with specialized training and education in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and problematic sexualized behaviors (PSB) and their treatments. I have also worked with countless children, adolescents and parents involved in the child welfare system, including both foster and biological parents as well as kinship caregivers. When it comes to family concerns, I work with the youth and the family unit to improve communication, resolve conflicts, set healthy boundaries, clarify roles and responsibilities, promote understanding, and increase functioning in the family unit. It is through this process that we can reduce stress and conflict through the improvement of interactions between family members.
In my private practice, I provide behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. I have extensive training in trauma and am a nationally certified therapist for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am also working toward becoming a trained therapist in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which is also used to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related stress. My additional clinical interests include working with and serving the needs of children, adolescents and adults living with intellectual disability, autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
In our first visit, we will spend some time getting to know each other, learning about why services are being sought and how we can approach the process together. Using a client-centered and holistic approach, we will tailor a treatment plan to address your specific needs. We can work together to process strong emotions, develop coping skills, explore thinking patterns, examine behaviors, and reduce negative symptoms related to mental health.
Let’s work together!
