My name is Nicole Barnette and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I have over 8 years of experience working in mental health. I’ve worked in a variety of settings and assisted individuals with a broad range and severity of clinical concerns. I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, substance abuse/dependence, stress, coping with life changes, intellectual/developmental disabilities, LGBTQ-related issues, and individuals experiencing an acute mental health crisis.

I believe a key component in helping others is to build a healthy counseling relationship. You deserve to feel heard, respected, understood, and empowered in a non-judgmental and stigma-free environment. While I typically gravitate toward a person-centered or cognitive-behavioral approach, I believe in meeting people where they are and tailoring the technique to fit the person. Your treatment should fit your individual needs and together, we can establish and work toward goals to help you achieve the outcome you desire.
