Welcome! My name is Laura Batres-Kros and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience providing services in different settings including child protective services, school social work, outpatient clinics and military bases abroad. I speak both English and Spanish and have provided services in both languages both individually and in group settings. I am also a certified Positive Discipline parent educator and a registered Play Therapist. I have lived in several Latin American countries, Southern California, Germany, and the Midwest. I have personal experience with multicultural issues, adjusting to living abroad and change issues.
My focus has been on helping parents with child rearing and relationship needs, women facing life changing experiences, teachers working with children with behavioral issues, and military families with acculturation and adjustment to change challenges. I specialize in treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, acculturation, adjustment to life transitions, self-esteem/self-love, and parent-child relationship issues.
My counseling style is warm, respectful, strength based, and solution focused. My therapeutic approach is influenced by various treatment modalities including Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, my extensive training and experience as a parent educator and play therapist allows me to help you navigate parent-child relationships and family conflict.
