Kristen Allen is a licensed mental health counselor. Kristen aims to make her patients feel comfortable as she builds rapport with them, allowing the patient to explore themselves confidently and safely. She takes an easygoing, lighthearted approach, tailoring her style to each patient’s personality. She enjoys laughing with her patients, providing an environment that allows them to feel comfortable and speak freely. Kristen believes everyone has something they’re dealing with day-to-day that gets in the way of their happiness. She hopes to guide her patients as they tap into their own knowledge and resilience to find their inner strength and confidence. She begins each intake appointment with the question, “How can I help you help yourself?” Her goal is to motivate each patient in the pursuit of the change they want to see in their life. Kristen uses a combination of motivational interviewing, mindfulness, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral therapies. She specializes in substance use disorders and addictions, but also treats issues including ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, sleep issues, gender concerns, trauma, control disorders, and mood disorders. Kristen works with adults from ages 18 to 65 and has been working with patients since 2018. Outside of work, Kristen is a proud dog mom to her two American Staffordshire terriers. She enjoys art, spending time with family and friends, meditating, going on nature walks, and watching scary movies. Kristen enjoys working with SohoMD because it’s a great platform that provides quick, efficient resources and a support system for its providers.
