About

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who is licensed in the states of Texas, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. I received my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Slippery Rock University in western Pennsylvania in 2016. My experiences since then have included providing in-home and community-based therapy to children and adolescents in rural western Pennsylvania, working with children, adolescents, and young adults in an outpatient mental health facility in rural northern Virginia, and working in private practice with adults in urban Texas. I also had the opportunity to work as a behavior specialist consultant and help parents and teachers address their children's or students' behaviors and symptoms. I have worked with clients who have experienced depression, anxiety disorders, trauma and abuse, domestic violence, autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, grief and loss, foster care placement, low self-esteem, career/life transition issues, stress related to chronic health conditions, and family relationship difficulties. I am also an LGBT+ ally.

My approach to counseling usually involves a mixture of cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapy approaches. I also have noticed mental health benefits from creative activities and community involvement and will sometimes incorporate art activities into sessions. I believe that clients often have some of the best ideas to help themselves but may require some assistance with bringing those ideas to light. I also believe that recognizing how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected allows us to address one area in order to improve other areas of our lives. I believe in meeting clients where they are and recognizing and celebrating progress as even the smallest gains. I have experienced times where my client and I learn from each other rather than me being the only “teacher.”

I have had the opportunity to meet clients who are well-acquainted with the mental health care system and clients who have never been to counseling before meeting with me. I know that opening up to a complete stranger can be intimidating and it may take time to build trust. I want to thank you for taking this chance to seek help and work towards a better future together. I look forward to meeting you!
