Hello, I am Kathy. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 30 years. I earned my masters degree from New York University and graduated in 1991. I specialize in treating mental health and addictions (alcohol or drug use). My area of expertise is treating depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Most of my experience has been with adults ages 21-80. I can teach you coping skills to deal with: parenting issues, career issues, interpersonal relationships and family conflict. Some coping skills I use are: assertive communication, boundary and limit setting (learning to say 'no'), anger management and identifying/managing relapse triggers.

I use a straightforward and solution-oriented approach, asking gently probing questions. My strength lies in an ability to quickly assess a problem, offering suggestions that have proven effective for over 30 years. When appropriate, I will use humor to illustrate a point. I have an unquenchable desire to learn about human motivation and behavior to bring about positive change. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and welcome the challenge of navigating your path to improved mental health. My belief is that formal education in counseling is just a starting point. Most of what I know I have learned from my clients. I look forward to learning about you.
