About
Hello to You! Thanks for clicking on my name. I know that seeking help or counseling for some of life’s most painful or distressing events; whether from the past or going on presently, can be intimidating, and for that I want to acknowledge you for taking the first big step. The truth is, none of us ( no matter the age) are exempt from experiencing stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions (i.e. death of a loved one, divorce, heartbreak, relocation), and hosts of other challenges life brings and having support or somewhere to release can be the difference in moving forward or staying stuck…Below you will find a little about me and how we can make the next step together.
I have a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University (2009) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. I started in the mental and behavioral health field providing therapeutic support to individuals with severe mental illnesses. I spent 4 years providing mental health services in some of the most poverty-stricken areas, that were forgotten. The goal was to integrate these clients as best as possible to the community, while managing their mental health and honestly, that’s all most of us are trying to do, manage and maintain our sanity; while living productive lives. This experience taught me humility and the true essence of meeting my clients where they are. I have had the opportunity to work in various sectors of the mental health field. Having a diverse professional counseling history ranging from community mental health, to supporting military families, providing therapy for children in foster care, EAP services and now private practice has grown me professionally and clinically, and has shown me the power and effectiveness of counseling.
I believe that therapy provides a safe environment for you to explore your strengths in weakness. My role involves supporting you in deciding what tools you already have to help bring resolve to what’s presenting a block or barrier to keep you moving forward. While this is talk therapy, we do not have to only sit and talk or have “Question and Answer” sessions. I’d like for us to be conversational and provide you with tools or strategies to support you toward meeting your goals. If you’re looking for a therapist that is optimistic, relatable, meets you where you are and is committed to the journey, you’ve found your match.
In addition, Therapy is not always about addressing those things that aren’t going well in life, but can also serve as a form of preventative maintenance for you to validate you’re on your desired path, and I am willing to offer that level of support as well.
You’ve taken the first big step; seeking out support! When you’re ready to make the next step, connect with me for an appointment!
