About

Hello and Welcome! I ‘m so glad you reached out for help.
I am a licensed therapist with 14 years of experience working with various populations, and individuals to help them navigate many of life’s difficulties and problems.
My focus and passion are to help people manage emotional, physical, and psychological distress, thereby, offering hope for a better quality of life.
For over 21-years I worked as a dental assistant caring for patients who suffered with physical pain and low self-esteem as a result of dental problems. In 2005, I felt an overwhelming desire to serve individuals suffering with deeper, more enduring emotional, mental, and psychological pain.
Pain is universal and does not discriminate. I believe that emotional pain provokes physical pain and physical pain, if it continues over a long enough period of time, triggers emotional and mental pain.
After returning to college, in 2011, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. I spent my undergraduate internship working in acute Adult and Senior Behavior Health Units caring for individuals suffering with severe, persistent mental health illnesses.
In 2013, I graduated with my Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. I earned my professional counseling license after providing over 3000 hours of care in private practice and an outpatient substance abuse treatment.
From 2012 to 2015, the population I served in private practice ranged from 5 to 85-year-old, males/females, and included various forms of daily stress and anxiety, depression, Bi-Polar, ADHD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Trauma, Grief and Loss, Family dysfunction, Marriage Counseling, Pain Management, Phase of Life Changes, and Personality Disorders.
In 2016, I was contracted to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections, providing group therapy focused on intensive sex offender treatment, while maintaining a private practice.
In addition to working full time, from 2006-2015, I volunteered my time mentoring young girls and women. Other volunteer work included facilitating small group studies focused on self-esteem, shame, guilt, and forgiveness issues.
In addition to my formal master level education in counseling, in 2015 I received additional intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Although, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my primary treatment approach for many mental health and behavioral problems, I am fully trained and licensed in many treatment options. Choice of treatment is always based on each individual and his or her needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the principle that thoughts influence feelings, feelings influence actions, and actions influence our results, or life circumstances. I believe helping people recognize and challenge faulty thoughts and beliefs, empowers them to manage their thoughts and feelings and leads to healthier choices for a healthier life.
Mental health is a large part of overall health and well-being. Your mental health is my priority, and I am looking forward to working with you. Thank you.
