About

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and have been working as a therapist for more than 25 years in hospital-based settings, corporate employee assistance programs, and private practice. I have worked as a general psychotherapist in helping others to attain their desired goals via individual, couples, family, and group counseling; I have specialized in assisting the addicted population; and I have worked for many years in the corporate world in helping to support and sustain healthy employees and a healthy workplace.
The intent of counseling is for it to be a transformational journey for you, one filled with some trepidation, no doubt, but also excitement, joy, fulfillment, empowerment, and self-realization. As a therapist, I actively participate in all facets of your counseling experience, prompting you to search deeper interpersonally for a fuller understanding of why you behave the way you do and whether this can use some tweaking or not. My questions during session are intended to get you to explore motives, beliefs, your own values and whether these remain productive and applicable in your current life. Rest assured that there will be no judgment from me at any time.
We will find ways to address your identified issues and goals via self-exploration and implementation of concrete tasks aimed at diminishing negative feelings and beliefs. All goals will be designed to be specific, manageable, attainable, realistic, and time-based, or what I call S.M.A.R.T. goals. I encourage all clients to apply what is working in session to their world outside the counseling realm, which is in essence, your homework. I like to offer supportive readings, books, etc., as adjuncts to the work we do together as well. We will assess your progress periodically and re-determine future needs and goals if necessary.
