About

I commend you for taking that first step to consider counseling. I understand that it can be uncomfortable, so my first goal would be to help you feel comfortable with the process, relaxed and welcome!

I am honored to have provided counseling to individuals and families for many years in various settings. My experience has taught me to take the time to develop my relationship with you, as that is the heart of counseling. My approach is client centered and strengths-based. I will focus on your concerns and you will set the agenda. I will help you use your natural strengths to navigate your challenges. I will encourage you to get a bigger picture of your situation, as that will provide you with more options for how to proceed in a way most comfortable to you.
I use a cognitive behavioral approach. I will help you examine and restructure your thoughts and perceptions to be more in alignment with your natural self. I will help you with your feelings. We will work through them, and expand your most positive feelings. Emotions are energy in motion. At best, emotions flow through us without getting stuck. But we all get stuck sometimes. I still do! I will support you to learn to have a healthy emotional flow. I am very positive and I will help you become more positive about yourself. You can do this!
I have worked with clients with a variety of concerns and settings, including adjustment concerns, parenting and relationship challenges, sexual abuse assessment and treatment, psychiatric inpatient and rehabilitation, forensic psychiatry, parent counseling focused on children with emotional and behavioral challenges, other disabilities and medical conditions and family systems therapy.
I serve clients with anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, stress, trauma, and any/all emotional challenges. I have seen a lot in my career, and I promise to be non judgmental with you and your story.
My style is relaxed, warm, accepting and laid back. But I will tell you the truth as I see it. I am a big believer in living from your heart, with great compassion for all of us and our challenges.
