About

“Once we accept our limits, we go beyond.” Albert Einstein
Hello, my name is Ivy Ofori, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 2015 in San Antonio Texas and received a master’s degree in Counseling. At this time I was already a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor so I had the skills as a counselor and with additional advanced knowledge in different counseling skills and theories, it was easier to begin to dig deeper into the childhood issues of my dual diagnosed clients to have a better understanding of the source of their suffering. In the Last 10 years I have been providing counseling services to clients from all dimensions, including counseling within the prison system, in and outpatient facilities, individual, and group counseling. I recently began to counsel teenagers with parental consent. The concept and counseling approach is still the same as counseling adults but to their level of understanding.
My professor ingrained in me that counseling is an art and evolving. I must therefore learn to attend to my clients based on their needs and not on my initial view of the presenting problem. With this concept in mind I developed the skill of open mindedness that allowed my clients to freely open up and connect with me.

I love to see my clients take their lives back as they slowly understand, learn and accept the need to love self before anything or anyone else. Using unconditional positive regard I help my clients to not feel judged but loved and embrace life as it comes along. I also meet my clients where they are as we work and walk closely together until they understand their struggles and how to accept change. My approach to counseling is mainly client driven. I, the clinician redirect and apply principles of cognitive restructuring to help my clients make better realistic choices.
Finally, I encourage you to take a walk with me on this winding road with many turns and curves but together we can work out the challenges we face along the way.
“Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today, and Hope for Tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” Albert Einstein
