About
I am licensed in Alabama with 10 years of professional work experience. My areas of focus include helping individuals who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, autoimmune disease, and life transitions, as well as marital and family issues. My background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I practice an integrated approach to counseling, meaning that I use a few specifically chosen complementary theoretical frameworks that inform my understanding of health and wellness. I believe in a whole person approach to counseling: body, mind, and spirit. In order for us to be healthy and whole we must look at all three areas.
My goal as a counselor is to assist clients toward creating wellness, rather than treating a diagnosis. I believe our futures are created and negotiated by us as individuals. I want to help my clients create a more optimal future for themselves. I do this by assisting clients with taking small steps towards better health and wellbeing, based on their specific goals. I focus not only thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, but also the key role that lifestyle interventions such as nutrition, sleep, and exercise have in helping my clients achieve an optimal level of functioning.
My training and background provides me the opportunity to work with the entire family system, from children to adults. I enjoy working with teens and young adults, especially, and often incorporate art, books, movies, music, and nature into sessions.
When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking, visiting national parks, and attending concerts and musical theater productions. I also serve on the Board of the Mental Health Association in Morgan County. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
