About

Hello! My name is Erica Beitel, LMSW, APHSW-C. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Alma College and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. I have been a licensed social worker in the state of Michigan since 2018. I also have a certification in Advanced Palliative and Hospice Social Work. I have worked in the mental health field in a variety of capacities from inpatient psychiatric care, community case management, and most recently as a Hospice social worker. I have worked with people of all ages from elementary school children to the elderly. I commonly receive feedback that I have a comforting, conversational, and human approach (instead of the clinical therapist with a clipboard approach.) I am here to be present with you during your session. We are both people who are trying our best to get through life. I find there is great benefit to have a person (or therapist) in your life who you can talk to and not feel judged by. I am here to listen and help you navigate the complexities life is throwing your way.

My areas of interest include helping people through life transitions, relationship issues, work stress/burnout, finding meaning, working with aging parents, and coping with grief and loss. I have facilitated grief and loss groups and divorce survival support groups. I appreciate speaking with people in a 1:1 therapeutic setting, especially if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, and/or panic disorders. I combine a person centered and motivational approach to talk therapy, to start on the goals that matter to you the most.

Most likely, if you are reading this you, are experiencing a rough time and don’t know where to start. I want to assure you that you are in the right place! It is never easy to ask for help, but the strongest people admit they need a bit of help when life gets tough. As humans, we were designed to be social creatures, meaning we need each other more when things aren’t going well. This is not the time to isolate, but instead a time to build a supportive community. I would be honored if I could be a part of your community. I am a firm believer that mental health care should be an essential part of anyone’s wellness plan. If you feel it would be a good fit, I would be happy to chat with you more to see what we can do together to help you reach your goals. If it is not the right fit, do not fret, I would still want to connect you to the resources and/or therapist you need!

Some advice that I live by (and received from my own therapist) is, “Be careful to not limit your own happiness and success, with help and time to heal, anything is possible.”
