Hello! I'm glad you're here. Identifying that you have something you'd like to work on and taking the important and brave step to seek help with that work is courageous.
My name is Emma, and I would be honored to help you with it.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed and based in Missouri, and I have over 5 years experience working with trauma, substance abuse/addiction, and mood disorders. Co-occurring with these issues are often depression, anxiety, panic attacks, relationship issues, life changes, PTSD, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I also have experience with couples' issues, LGBTQ+, communication issues, veteran and active duty issues, and difficulty related to socioeconomic status.
My experience includes individual and group therapy in both residential and outpatient settings of a Substance Use Disorder treatment facility, as well as individual therapy in an outpatient Community Mental Health Center and in private practice. I have an eclectic approach to better tailor therapy to the needs of the individual, but the approaches I find most useful are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD.
Life can be difficult to manage at times, whether due to daily life stressors, more major events, or ongoing mental health issues, and sometimes the tools we already have aren't enough. These things can impact our well-being, and we need someone to help us learn new ways to deal more effectively with these life stressors and the overwhelming feelings they can cause.
