About
I am Dr. Emilia O’Neill-Baker, a bilingual (English-Spanish) and bicultural person-centered, solution-focused therapist, with a humanistic, multicultural, strengths-based approach to therapy. I firmly believe we all have the power to change our lives and reach our highest potential by discovering our strengths and utilizing the mental, emotional and spiritual resources we possess to succeed. I know that we become stronger when we work together and support each other through stressful and difficult situations.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Texas, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor (LPCC-S) in the state on New Mexico, and a National Certified Counselor. I am also a licensed psychologist in Mexico.
I earned my Doctorate degree (PhD) in counseling from Texas A&M. I am constantly studying, researching and learning new research-based approaches to therapy, as well as better ways to help my clients achieve emotional wellness. Added to my clinical counseling extensive training, I have received certifications in Stress Management, Mindfulness, Alternative (natural) medicine, Crisis Intervention, Resilience Coaching, and Suicide Prevention, among others. I train and supervise counseling students in my private practice. I am the co-author of the book How Much of Yourself Do You Own? -a manual to help readers develop emotional resources-, and I am a matter expert for different magazines, radio and TV shows.
I specialize in stress management, trauma, and post-traumatic stress. I work with clients who have difficulty dealing with anxiety and depression, and those who are victims of violence. I work with adults, adolescents, LGBTQ community.
I proudly serve first responders, and work with military members, veterans and families around the world who are in need of processing critical incidents and traumatic events so that they can strive in their personal lives, and to assure their productivity and performance are not affected.
For more than twenty years I have walked with clients of different ages and cultural backgrounds and provided them with practical tools to enhance their resilience, improve their life skills, develop healthy relationships, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
