About

I consider myself an optimist and seek to find the best in the people I meet. I have an out-going nature. I love people and I love life and seek to help others find the same joy, even in bleak circumstances. When asked to help, I pitch in. I dislike saying “no” and would rather say “yes” to tasks and assignments. I think of myself as a “can do person” and am always looking for how good things can be made to happen. I would like to note that I can be comfortable in most environments, working with most age groups and mental health conditions. I began my professional career some 30 years ago. I am a Clinical Psychologist with both a Master’s Degree and a Psychology Doctoral degree. I am a Clinical Member of the American Psychological Association. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Shame-informed Treatment Specialist. One of my specialties is treating Complex PTSD and in helping people overcome childhood traumas and abuses. I also treat PTSD in veterans and first responders. I am a supporter and friend of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am a strong believer in the ideal that everyone should be treated equally with respect and dignity, especially when it comes to getting good mental health support and therapy when needed. I have worked with a number of individuals in the transition process and gender reassignment at both the pre-and post-surgery stages. I have also worked with individuals who have gender identity concerns and those who are considering "coming out," as well as individuals and families where concerned members are unsure of their sexuality and wonder what a change in sexual behaviors means for them. I also hold a Master of Divinity degree. I grew-up in the Christian church and am a life-long Christian. I was ordained as a Pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and have held dual standing within the United Church of Christ.
