About
Hi there, I’m Dr. Sheri Lawrence. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Psy.D.) with a purpose and passion to guide and assist all of my clients through the difficulties they may experience in life. My hope is to lead toward a level of healing that will result in a better quality of life and improved life decisions and choices. My approach My approach depends on my clients’ needs. I prefer a Humanistic approach because trust is important in therapy and I believe it’s necessary to validate my client’s experience. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychoanalytic Therapy to truly understand my clients and their past experiences, gradually leading to improvement in present-focused, healthy coping techniques. My focus My style seems to fit best with adults and adolescents who are struggling with trauma from their past or social pressures in the present and may find it difficult to move forward or feeling stagnant. The ability to reach certain goals and find a purpose in life can be hampered by symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, substance abuse, addiction, and feelings of low self-esteem. Through the process of therapy, we can begin to overcome the obstacles that prevent healing and work through life’s challenges together. Gaining a more positive perspective on your present situation and the future can be life-changing. My communication style My communication style is calming, nonjudgmental, accepting and understanding. My goal is to build trust in the therapeutic relationship and I truly believe in the importance of listening attentively to my client’s concerns. My journey to therapy I believe my passion for becoming a therapist began long before adulthood. I always felt my purpose in life was to be in the helping field in some capacity. I believe we are here to help one another and I wanted to gain the knowledge to give the best version of myself in this way.
