About

Hello!

My name is Dr. Michelle Stangline. My doctorate degree is in Counseling Psychology. I have been counseling adults at all stages of life, teenagers, and children since 2004. In 2004 I worked as a mental health counselor at a psychiatric mental health facility for four years in Atlanta, Georgia. Here, I worked with adults of all ages struggling with mental health and addiction. For the past 24 years I have worked with adults, college students, high school students, middle school students, and elementary students as a school counselor and as an adjunct professor at Mercer University for graduate students in Clinical Counseling. I have also worked as an Equine Therapist, Grief Therapist, Play Therapist, Sand Tray Therapist, Beyond Art Therapy Therapist, E.M.D.R., Hypnotherapy, and Trauma. Please note that I only treat adults at this time.

My training in therapy is extensive and I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy (No one therapy works alone). I believe that it is my job to find a therapies that fits my individual client's needs. I have been trained in all the Traditional Therapies and many other therapies. These include (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Freudian Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Other therapies I am trained in include Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Grief Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Art Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Gestalt Therapy, Creative Therapy, E.M.D.R. Therapy, Tapas Accupressure Trauma Therapy, and Garden Therapy. I am also a Trauma Specialist and Grief Specialist for adults, teens, and children. I enjoy working with and helping people with Anxiety, Anger Management, Addictions, Depression, A.D.D. / A.D.H.D., Addictions, Grief, Relationship Issues, Parenting Issues, Behavior Issues, Emotional Abuse Issues, Trauma, and Careers.

The approach I take in therapy is truly a creative one. I have written over 12 eBooks on counseling techniques on counseling and mental health issues. Six of these eBooks are geared for therapist so that they can learn creative techniques for their clients. I do not believe in doing "Just Talk Therapy" with clients. I take a creative approach that will take you to a deeper place and help create more meaning in therapy.

If you are interested in therapy that will allow you to truly learn about yourself, help you reach your fullest potential, live your best life, and be your happiest self please contact me. Together we will begin the journey into therapy. I will be here to support you all the way. I know how hard it is to make that first step. I have been there myself and have seen how powerful great therapy can be! But first you have to show up for therapy. It's not going to always be easy and fun, but I can promise you that if you are ready for therapy, and do the work involved, you will never regret your decision to start therapy.

I tell my clients that they need to come to our therapy sessions with an open mind. It's okay to be open, yet skeptical with what we will be doing and I will be there to keep you safe. I only ask that you bring your trust to the therapy sessions and give it a try. Every technique I use with my clients is one that I have used on myself. The creative therapies are very powerful in the healing process, but you must be ready to try. I encourage you to really think about your being ready to change your life? Please note I am not the therapist for everyone. I only work part time and have to limit myself to 20 clients on my caseload. I cannot accept clients from certain time zones such as Australia and Asia due to the conflict of my time zone which is EST. Also, I am only accepting adult clients at this time.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and helping you live to the fullest potential in life. Are you are ready to put the time and energy into something that will change your life if you allow it to? If so, then I am the counselor for you!

Sincerely,
Dr. Michelle Stangline, Licensed Professional Counselor
