Hello!
My name is Micah (her/she) and I'm very honored you have taken the time to see if I'm a good fit for you. I am a professional counselor in Louisiana and I have been working in private practice for more than a decade. I attended the University of New Orleans for both my master's and doctorate degrees, earning them in 2001 and 2008. I have experience working with individuals and groups who present with a myriad of issues and life transitions including mood disorders, grief, sexuality, identity, anxiety, parenting, stress management, interpersonal problems, and relationships.
My approach is collaborative, relaxed, and most of all, safe. It is difficult for me to express just how important and sacred I see the process of counseling, and by all ethical measures I function in the capacity to protect and hold space for your life stories. Because that's what this is - an exploration of your story peppered with some observations, interventions, and suggestions for growth and coping with life's challenges. While speaking/writing and simultaneously experiencing the process of sharing your story, I'm certain you will not only begin to understand your reactions to things, but also learn new things about yourself.
