My name is Heather Jones. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with an MSW and PhD in Social Work, and have been practicing for over 19 years.
I work with adults, couples and families with mood and anxiety disorders, Autism spectrum disorder, attention problems, personality disorders, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, poor self-esteem/worth, domestic violence, degenerative disorders, including MS, ALS, Alzheimer's disease, Lewy Body Dementia, and Parkinson's disease, aging and role changes, caregiver stress and burden, end-of-life choices, and co-occurring disorders. I like to tailor therapy approaches to fit the needs of the clients, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Couples Therapy, Trauma therapies, Emotional Freedom - Tapping, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and Family Systems treatment models. My approach is non judgmental, supportive and interactive. I create a safe environment for taking risks, gaining insight, and achieving personal and emotional growth. I utilize strategic and educational interventions to help clients develop and practice the positive skills/strategies.
