About

Welcome! Therapy looks a lot like a conversation with a good friend. But the gift is that it's a one-way relationship where it's all about you! You get to talk about whatever you want and need to say. I get to listen carefully, reflect what I hear to make sure you feel understood, affirm and encourage your strengths, and ask questions to clarify or help you think more deeply about your concerns. I believe that you are the expert on you, but we all need help to move through this life.

I have 25 years of experience working as a psychologist with issues of anxiety, grief and loss, and depression. I have expertise working with many personal and life challenges, including identity concerns, college adjustment, career uncertainty, work/life balance, stress, parenting, and other life transitions.

Change is a guarantee in life and it is often difficult. My approach to psychotherapy is to not only understand problems, but to work with you using cognitive-behavioral techniques that have been successful for many others. This means that I believe that one’s thought patterns contribute to one’s feelings and behaviors, and in changing faulty thought processes, we can achieve improvement. My work is solution-focused, which means that I push toward change, setting concrete, attainable goals. I also believe that we are products of our environments. Thus, I often guide clients in examining past patterns and relationships to determine where their symptoms were learned. This is done in an attempt to change maladaptive patterns. It is my goal to be nurturing, empathic, & supportive through this process.

I specialize in working with all types of people facing these past and present challenges to create new paradigms for living. I promise to provide a non-judgmental space where we explore your strengths and develop tools to reach your goals. I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. But I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. A majority of my availability is in the evenings and on the weekends but I check messages at least once during each weekday.
