About

Hello, I am Dr. Alice Andres, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. I obtained my Psy.D. from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2013, and I have several years of experience with providing individual, group, and family therapy to a wide range of clients across private practice and community settings. My areas of specialization include ADHD, depression, anxiety/panic, OCD, substance abuse, personality disorders, aging-related issues, cognitive/physical declines, crisis intervention, post-traumatic stress, problems stemming from abuse/domestic violence, life transitions and adjustments, and severe mental illness. Regarding treatment interventions, my main interests are mindfulness, humanistic-existential, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, spirituality/religion, cultural sensitivity, attachment theory, psychodynamic, client-centered, and acceptance-based therapies.

My therapeutic style is compassionate, client-centered, warm, interactive, eclectic, and integrative. I have a strong background in multicultural and diversity studies, and I have traveled to over 15 countries thus far. Overall, I am sensitive to issues stemming from cultural differences, prejudice, oppression, stigma, minority status, immigration, and acculturation. Also, I am a musician and have a passion for creative hobbies. When possible, I love to incorporate music, art, crafts, and creative expression into treatment, as I believe that creative expression can facilitate progress toward therapy goals and enrich your overall quality of life. Furthermore, I believe in destigmatizing mental illness and treating each person as a unique individual, regardless of their diagnosis, and involving family members, friends, other healthcare providers, and community members (e.g., spiritual leaders, coaches, mentors) into treatment to help you feel confident and supported outside of our sessions. My approach combines mindfulness, client-centered, humanistic-existential, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, attachment theory, solution-focused techniques, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Also, I welcome client feedback and view therapy as a collaborative process. In other words, I want to ensure that your values, reactions, and opinions are part of our treatment, as this will ultimately improve our therapeutic relationship and direct your treatment toward the goals that you feel are most important. Overall, I promote a holistic approach to healing, with an emphasis on mind-body awareness, stress reduction, creativity, social connection, and spiritual fulfillment.

It takes courage to seek help, and I understand that it is not always easy to open up and talk about our problems. I want to congratulate you for taking the first steps toward improving your life, and I am here to support and empower you. With your dedication and active participation in treatment, I believe you will discover your best self, which will guide you toward a lifetime of wellness and fulfillment!
