Hi! I am Donnisha Lavigne, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia and a Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors. I am trained to provide individual counseling to adults presenting with a number of issues including mood related disorders, depressive disorders, trauma- and stressor- related disorders, as well as substance-related and addictive disorders.

I received my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Georgia Gwinnett College. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations presenting with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders in a number of settings including community mental health agencies, psychiatric hospitals and county jails.
I have experienced many challenges in both personal and career aspects of my life that through holistic care I have been able to face and overcome. My personal experiences navigating life while coping with psychiatric disorders has given me a unique perspective when providing mental health services to others.

Over the years, I have learned that the only thing consistent in life is change and it is my goal to assist every client in adapting to changes that have caused distress in their lives. I am dedicated to helping clients find peace in the midst of life’s challenges, face their obstacles, and achieve their personal definition of success through a counseling relationship. I specialize in identifying present distressing problems and underlying causes while focusing on identifying healthy and effective coping strategies and other solutions to address the presenting issues. It is my priority to assist you in making significant changes in your life while preparing you for success in managing future problems that may occur after treatment. I approach each task with an eclectic lens, creating individualized treatment plans to assist each client in taking significant actions towards identifying specific beliefs, feelings, and thoughts that have promoted maladaptive behaviors that hinder their ability to maintain healthy functioning.

Seeking mental health treatment for yourself or a loved one can be a harrowing process. The stigma that surrounds mental health treatment in several communities can provoke mixed feelings, including negative emotions such as guilt, shame, or embarrassment.
