About
Hi, my name is Chrissy; I'm a licensed mental health therapist and passionate about working with individuals in overcoming barriers to their goals. My approach I use several therapy modalities, including client-centered, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My approach to connecting with others stems from a lens of cultural humility, authenticity, and respect. My focus I specialize in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem. I help my clients identify strategies that work best for them to reduce the intensity of symptoms as well as expand on one's belief system towards an outlook of empowerment. My communication style My goal is to create an environment that feels safe for the client. An atmosphere where one feels valued and respected, I believe, provides the foundation and opportunity to grow. My journey to therapy I originally went to college to become a teacher. While I was working as a teacher's assistant, I found myself spending a lot of time assisting students who were going through tragedies or turmoil in their personal lives, which was inhibiting their ability to progress academically. I found myself passionate about being a support system in any way that I could. Once I found out there was a career in school counseling - I went for it and never looked back. My goals for you I collaborate with each client to develop goals that are tailored to the client's specific needs. My first session with you For our first therapy session, this will be more of an "Assessment and Goal Planning session" I will take time to ask more questions than usual about your background and needs for treatment. Then I will take time to explore the goals you'd like to address in therapy, and then we will collaborate on a plan for treatment! Each therapy session following this will be a progression in working toward your goals, and I will check in with you on an ongoing basis on how you feeling regarding your therapy.
