About
Hi there! My name is Christy Videon and I am Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I have been counseling for over 9 years and fully licensed for over 3 years. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia, and my Master’s degree in Counselor Education, in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track, from Augusta State University.
Since graduating, I have worked within an adult psychiatric hospital setting as counselor, both within the forensic and adult mental health units. My experience includes working with adults dealing with severe and persistent mental illnesses, intellectual disabilities, depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction, crisis intervention, traumas, and behavior modification. My clinical training and background has also afforded me the opportunity to work with clients with developmental disability diagnoses. Therefore I am also able to provide effective counseling for individuals with mild/high functioning Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and/or Intellectual Disability. In addition, I also have extensive experience working with adults on professional growth and development, workplace issues, confidence building and compassion fatigue.
I believe therapy should be a safe place for you to find the strength and empowerment they need to overcome difficulties. My counseling approach is 100% client-centered and individualized to meet your needs at the given moment. I incorporate all types of modalities, but primarily use techniques from Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Mindfulness. By utilizing and incorporating all types of therapies I can better create a therapeutic relationship that will result in positive change at a pace you, the client, is most comfortable with and beneficial for your goals and needs. You navigate the sessions, I just help guide you along your journey. As someone on the outside looking in, it is easier for me to remain impartial and honest without judgment. My goal as a counselor is to help empower you to feel more confident in yourself and your life choices which will facilitate positive change and growth. From the first session, I work with my clients to come up with long term and short term goals that we will serve as a road map for our time together.
Starting counseling is the first step towards getting to where you want to be in your life. You should be proud of yourself that you have taken the initiative to start looking for a therapist. There must be some things you want to feel better about, and I think we can work on them together! If it sounds like we may be a good fit I am excited for the opportunity to work with you!
