Education: Dawn obtained her Bachelors in Social Work degree from the University of Central Mission in 2000 and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas in 2001.
Experience: Dawn has been a practicing clinician for 19 years. She has worked in, and supervised people in, the following settings: children’s behavioral health hospital, domestic violence shelters, outpatient clinics, school settings, sexual assault crisis centers, children’s level 4 residential treatment settings, and adolescent outpatient substance abuse treatment. Dawn has a passion for working with children/youth with behavioral problems and their families. She has decades of clinical experience working with young people who are defiant, physically/sexually aggressive, engaging in illegal behaviors and coming to the attention of authorities. In addition, Dawn also has a passion for working with trauma and finds that her two clinical passions fit very well together. Dawn incorporates play, art, and family therapy in her treatment. She believes that fun and play are an integral part of the treatment process and loves to engage families in playful ways. Dawn has also supervised mental health professionals for over a decade and wants to pass along tips and tricks to assist those she mentors have a long a joyous career!
Additional Information: Dawn resides in rural central Missouri with her black and tan hound, Ellie. She enjoys dual rural/urban citizenship. Dawn enjoys creative and artistic pursuits including drawing, interior design, crafting, and fashion. You will often hear her talking about travel or taking on a art new project. She is a lover of laughter, music, animals, nature, strong black coffee, and good food.
