About
My name is Lawson Bost, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia. I have worked in the mental health field for about four years now and currently work in a private counseling practice in Augusta, Georgia. I primarily work with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship and marriage problems, and other life challenges. Due to the unique experience of working under a NeuroPsychologist, I am also experienced in working with addiction, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and other NeuroCognitive issues.
My approach is to foster a relaxed, safe, non-threatening, and professional relationship with my clients. I bring a collaborative approach to the counseling process, meaning this your time and your journey and I want you to own it. That said I most certainly want to guide you, give you some perspective, pose questions to get you thinking differently, and have you try a few action steps that help generate change. Collaborative also means giving me feedback on the counseling process and what we need to do differently, keep, or all together stoop .
I completed my master's degree in counseling at Liberty University. I also have a bachelor's degree in Sociology corporate communication, which I utilize in my work to bring a full systemic view of the issue as well as the solution. My professional experience includes working at an inpatient addiction facility to help families understand the disease of addiction, working with individuals on identity and issue of shame narrative in their life and that contributes to anxiety, depression and other mental issues. More recently, I've concentrated my counseling practice on dealing with individuals experiencing sexual issues ranging from lack of physical intimacy to porn and sex compulsions/obsession.
Throwing your hand up and asking for help is never an easy task, so I am always impressed when anyone does it. Thanks for throwing your hand, and it would be an honor to assist you in anyway I can.
