About
Welcome! First I want to acknowledge how courageous and brave you are to take the first step in seeking counseling. I know that it can be overwhelming to find someone who you feel would be a good fit to help support you in this process. By sharing a little about myself, I hope to help you determine if I would be a good fit for you.
I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from Missouri Baptist University (2009), am a Licensed Clinical Practitioner (LPC) in the state of Missouri and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) since 2013 . I started working with adolescents in the juvenile system for the State of Missouri for almost 5 years. I then moved to a community non-profit agency, providing mental health services for children, young adults and families for the next 7 years. The last 4 years, I have been working with adolescents, young adults, and adults to help them find their place of peace, acceptance and resilience that is within us all. I am passionate about helping my clients find their inner strength and believe that you know yourself best. My role is to help guide you in your journey and provide you with the tools you need. I know how important building a trusting relationship is. It’s the foundation of any relationship. Being able to communicate openly and honestly, feeling validated and feeling heard can make a huge difference in finding a therapist you feel cares about you and that you can confide in.
I use a variety of strategies and approaches when meeting with clients, all depending on where you are at in your therapeutic process and what you need in that moment. This might include the use of mindfulness practices, cognitive based strategies, person centered strategies, solution focused strategies, motivational interviewing and trauma focused strategies.
I wish you the best in your journey and hope that I’ve provided some clarity as to whether I’d be a good fit working with you.
