I'm Dr. Barek Sharif, and it is a pleasure to meet you! As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I provide compassionate support to individuals and couples by focusing on reducing symptoms, rediscovering your sense of self, and deepening your connection to relationships.

I began my journey as a therapist over a decade ago by pursuing a Master of Science and Doctor of Psychology. My academic and clinical experiences have allowed me to facilitate workshops ranging in topics from: working with families, attachment injuries, role of spirituality in sobriety, and the role of trauma in relationship development. I have also taught courses in Law and Ethics, MFT Theories, and practicum. I possess the designation of Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and function as a California board approved supervisor (utilizing a Developmental Narrative Model).

These experiences have laid a foundation in my belief that relationships are at the core of our search for purpose and meaning which serves as the driving force in my personal and professional life. These beliefs are demonstrated in my knowledge and use of Collaborative Language Systems (CLS), Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and EMDR training.

One of my favorite quotes that encapsulates the clinical and leadership style I strive for comes from the humanistic theorist Carl Rogers – “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” I look forward to meeting with you in-person or online!
