About

Hello!

My name is Melissa Jackson, and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. Licensed in 2020, I have been providing therapy to individuals, groups and families both in-office and online. I have experience working with clients with a variety of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, OCD, as well as relationship and parenting concerns, adjustment issues and crisis intervention. In addition, I have worked for a community mental health agency where I provided services for clients with severe and persistent mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression. It has been one of my greatest joys in life to be able to work with such a diverse group of individuals through the therapeutic relationship.

My style of therapy is grounded in a person-centered approach which means I will "meet you where you are” with unconditional positive regard and understand “you are your own expert.” I believe individuals need a safe space to share and examine their experiences so that they may change their thoughts and feelings and, ultimately, find a new sense of peace and comfort with self and others. The relationship between the client and therapist is a top priority, and I believe each individual has varied needs requiring the use of a variety of modalities and approaches. Depending upon a client’s needs, I may use interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), including Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I understand the courage and strength it takes to seek support and begin to make change for positive outcomes. I appreciate your effort in taking this first step, and I look forward to getting the opportunity to work with you in achieving your goals.
