Hi, My name is Melinda Abernethy and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in North Carolina with 6 years of experience working as a psychocounselor. I received my Masters in Social Work from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. My experience ranges in working with clients ages birth- 18 years old with a wide range of concerns including developmental delays, depression, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD and ADHD. Through my work with children I have also gained a partnership in working with their parents and other family/caregivers with concerns such as postpartum disorders, parenting stressors, grief counseling, and transitioning life stages. I also have experience working with many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I approach counseling through a client-centered approach. I believe in meeting the client where they are and using reflective questions to guide sessions and change. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
