About
Hello! My name is Ashley and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and registered yoga teacher in Denver, Colorado. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: intensive care, inpatient, residential, and partial-hospitalization care for eating disorder and psychiatric care, crisis responder teams, and as management-administration for community mental health clinics. I work with adolescents and adults affected by eating disorders, self-esteem and body image concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, lifestyle and relationship challenges. My approach seeks to empower clients to make beneficial changes in the way they relate to their daily thoughts, emotions, stressors, and life purpose.
Originally from Louisiana, I graduated with a degree in English literature from the University of New Orleans, and in 2018 earned a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. As an intern I worked with children, families, and couples in group and individual formats. I launched my mental health career in Colorado, and gained experience in crisis response, at-risk youth counseling, counseling individuals on the Autism spectrum, and eating disorder counseling.
My approach to therapy is collaborative: I empower clients to set goals that are meaningful to them, and work with them to provide reflection, resources, and ideas, while also empowering self-direction as new needs may arise in our work together. My work is strengths-based and solution-focused, as it seeks to use the resources and strengths you already have to take effective and valued action in the present moment. We will develop a treatment plan that meets short, medium, and long-term goals, using a mindful approach that honors the past while improving the present moment, and planning for the future.
My therapy interventions are drawn from multiple evidence-based and humanistic approaches. Play and art therapy encourage therapeutic creation. Somatic therapy explores how we feel through our lives, traumas, and emotions within our bodies. ACT therapy work clarifies life purpose to guide meaningful action. DBT develops mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and coping skills. CBT addresses self-talk, habits, and reframing perspectives. Expressive arts, narrative, and trauma-informed therapy allow us to honor the past, grieve, and get to know ourselves as we are today. Ecosystemic therapy, Gottman and Satir methods, and EFFT consider the families and groups we all come from and belong to, and how to form more harmonious, satisfying, and intimate relationships.
Outside the therapy office, I enjoy true crime, reading, writing, and practicing yoga. You can find me adventure traveling, gardening, painting, playing music, and spending time with friends and family.
