About
Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to read about me. I am a Nationally Certified Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my BA in Psychology and Elementary Education from Fisk University and my MA in Community Counseling from Argosy University. I am a proud native of Nashville, TN, but I have happily called GA home for many years. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and trying out new foods with my husband, family, and friends. While I have experience working with all ages, my primary focus is working with adults. My areas of specialty include working with individuals and couples who experience a myriad of issues including but not limited to: ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, relationship/marital, infertility, spirituality/finding life purpose, perfectionism, life changes/challenges, and communication struggles. I hope to help clients discover and develop their own talents and strengths regardless of their past. I feel that our past can inform, but does not dictate our present or future. I work from a strengths based and solutions focused perspective with a gentle and nurturing humanistic approach. I believe that every person is uniquely made and born with a purpose. I have worked for 6 years as a school counselor and that experience provided me with a strong foundation in working with individuals who have a diverse spectrum of psychological, emotional, and relational challenges. I believe that flexibility in thinking and therapeutic approach is essential in establishing rapport and yielding best results. Rigidly adhering to one way of thinking or approaching therapy often limits results and misses the whole picture. I strive to approach each session with an open mind, listening ear, and an encouraging heart. I provide a warm, non-judgmental, collaborative environment and use a holistic approach to therapy by incorporating a variety of therapeutic modalities into my practice; some of which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, DBT, Mindfulness Based Therapy, and Existential.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nurturing space for clients to self-reflect and explore their greatest challenges. I encourage clients to be authentic, open to the process, and be ready to make positive changes. Sometimes, life's challenges can interrupt our flow and hinder us from maximizing our full unique potential. We might need a hand to help us to identify those strengths and abilities within so that we can regain hope and healing. My hope is that you will allow me to help you or a loved one navigate the way back to living a more peaceful and fulfilled life. I welcome the opportunity to work with you.
