There’s no health without mental health, I read this some place and it resonates with me. I believe in mental health and mental wellbeing. Sometimes talking to family and friends is not enough, sometimes you need an unbiased, non-judgmental, licensed professional who understands how to work with the mind. Asking for help for your mental wellbeing does not mean you are weak. It’s the opposite, it means you are strong enough, smart enough to recognize it’s time for the mental checkup. How long would you wait to see a physician if you sprained your ankle, or broke a leg? Would you just talk to a friend and hope it gets better? Would you wait until the pain is unbearable and then go see a physician? Of course not, you will seek medical attention right away. What good is it if you work on physical fitness and physical well-being and you are emotionally and mentally in pain? We all need to feel a sense of belonging and safety. We want to be heard, our opinion matters, we love, we grieve, we cry, and we laugh and sometimes the emotional roller coaster is too much to endure on your own.
