Personal Statement
Most problems people face stem from unhealthy behavioral patterns and miscommunication. Everyone just wants to be heard and validated and feel that they matter. I help my clients to explore their emotional needs and overcome barriers that limit their full potential. I use an open-minded client-centered real life approach to counseling with consideration to the client's work, home life, family traditions, cultural and spiritual beliefs, and sexual identity.
Key to any counseling is creating a therapeutic relationship with each client in an environment that is comfortable, non-judgmental and empathetic with compassion and understanding. My job is not to judge or place blame, it is to provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients to speak freely.
I work with individuals, couples and families. I am a client centered and goal oriented therapist. I believe this is not one single approach to therapy that can help everyone, but it has long been understood that compassion and empathy are necessary for any form of psychotherapy to be effective. Empathy alone wont be enough to help people change, getting the results you want from therapy will require taking an active role in your own self-help.
